Chemical industry

The chemical industry supplies materials for many end products of daily life. What had started in 1791 with Nicolas Leblanc's newly-invented method of making alkali soda from salt, developed into an important sector that holds a prominent position in the manufacturing industry.

Almost every article produced today contains components of the numerous basic and intermediate products of the chemical industry and comes into contact with them during the production process. Basic chemistry uses organic and inorganic raw materials and is a major supplier of starting materials for downstream chemical companies. These include industrial gases, dyes, plastics and synthetic rubber in their primary forms.

Fine and specialty chemicals produce highly differentiated intermediates for downstream sectors (rubber and plastics industry, automotive engineering, paper and printing industry, textile production, metal production, etc.) or finished products for the end user, e.g. paints, adhesives or detergents.

What is particularly important?

The chemical industry is of strategic importance for industrial production. It emits strong impulses to all industries. However, both the infrastructure and the complex technologies and processes in the chemical industry require compatibility with current regulations on climate protection and energy efficiency.

The safety and reliability of production cycles are of the highest priority, as aggressive acids and alkalis or explosive substances are often processed. The components used in the plants must be resistant to chemicals and temperature, explosion-proof, durable and easy to clean.

We handle nearly any requirement

Correspondingly, Mankenberg's product range of flexible standard valves or project-specific special valves is very extensive. Preferred materials are stainless steels that are particularly suitable for the corrosive atmosphere of many chemical plants.

Deep-drawing of the components produces compact and corrosion-resistant surfaces that can be easily cleaned. In addition, the suitable elastomer is available from a wide range of possible materials.

The optimum solution in each case is carefully developed in close consultation with the experts at Mankenberg.

In this way, the valve can be used over a long period of time without requiring substantial maintenance or spare parts and enables the chemical company to run its plant in a cost-effective manner.
